Tomato Festival!

I am so excited to be a part of Red Fire Farm's Tomato Festival! The event is being held at the farm on August 25th from 12 - 5.  There will be live music, cooking demos, a 5K Tomato Trot, local artists, local food, and yesssssss TOMATO TASTE TESTING ALL DAY! I will be selling my upcycled clothing and eating as many different types of tomatoes as I can.
Red Fire Farm is an amazing place!  We are in our second year of doing a CSA with them and the produce is beyond delicious.  So many beautiful and perfect tomatoes this past week.  And the corn was out of this world!

Red Fire Farm's Tomato-Corn Salsa Recipe:

FRESH TOMATO-CORN SALSA

3 Tomatoes, chopped
3 ears Corn
1 Onion, chopped
1 pepper, chopped
3 cloves Garlic, minced
1 hot pepper, minced, or 1 tsp cayenne pepper
1⁄4 cup Lemon juice or vinegar
2 Tbs. Olive oil
Salt to taste
1 Tbs. Maple syrup
3 Tbs. Cilantro
Chop tomatoes, salt and let sit in a colander for 30 min. to drain off extra juice. In the meantime, cut kernels from corn (yep, it's delicious raw) and mix in the rest of the ingredients, adding the drained tomatoes last and salting to taste.

Six Week Sewing!

We have begun another Six-Week Sewing Intensive at the studio!
Our first week we made tote bags (Mark's is above - made from gorgeous upholstery fabric in maroon hues) and this past Thursday we moved on to aprons.  More pictures to come - can't use this computer for editing.
