Summer Squash Spaghetti

Cooking With Hana!

My dear friend Hana Fritz recently made an appearance on How2Heros with her very own recipe for vegetarian summer squash spaghetti. The food was beautiful and so was she! She is sporting one of my eco-friendly aprons made from a vintage table cloth and gingham curtains. She did a fantastic job and I am honored that she wore a Whistling Sparrow apron! I was so inspired I made a meal as close to hers as I could get right after watching the video! Garlic and wine..what could be better in the summer?

Here is the link to watch the video:

About Summer Squash Spaghetti
Hana Fritz assembles a fresh vegetarian dish in minutes. Grilled vegetables are added to a garlic and wine sauce, then tossed with pasta and, the king of cheeses, Parmesano-Reggiano. Hana uses summer squash, zucchini and grape tomatoes, but you can let the season influence your choice of vegetables.

Fashion Icon of the Week: Frida Kahlo

"Surrealism is the magical surprise of finding a lion in a wardrobe where you were sure of finding shirts" - Frida Kahlo

My favorite artist is Frida Kahlo. Not only are her paintings full of energy and emotion, but her style evoked that same vivacious energy. She mixed bold colors, earthy Pre-Columbian stone jewelry, flowers in her hair, traditional Tehuana style, and a whimsicality to create a palette that was uniquely her. Her style became an extension of her paintings. She wore green on her wedding day. She wore a man's suit for a family portrait. She wove ribbons and real flowers into her hair constantly. She truly is the perfect example of weaving art into everyday life.

Here are some snap shots from our last class at Abeille. Such beautiful projects came out of this class! Everyone had AMAZING taste in fabric. One of the great things about this class is the high energy - everyone loved sewing and was excited to continue sewing after the class. Once you know the basics of sewing the possibilities really seem endless!
